Marmot

The Marmot concept begun with a small group of outdoors loving students on a Glaciology project in April 1971. Their name was inspired by marmots, which are highly social, large ground squirrels found in mountainous areas. Unsatisfied with the available cold weather gear, they began to experiment with their own designs and eventually started their own company and store known as Marmot Mountain Works in 1974.
