We are right in the middle of summer. And it could not be clearer (with the exception of today—what is southern California). From weather reports, we’re in this for the long-haul. Which only means one thing—

T-SHIRTS

T-shirts galore. They’re comfortable, they’re protective, they can be fashionable, and most importantly, they keep you comfortable in this heat wave.

There are a number of factors that go into choosing the perfect t-shirt for you though. Fittings vary depending on brand, as do breathability and style. It’s funny to think that this is one of the most-sold items globally, yet so few people own t-shirts that they truly feel flatter them and are comfortable. A lot of picking the t-shirt that best suits you, is trial and error. But through my lustrous experience as an avid t-shirt wearer, I have gained some insight that might assist you in your t-shirt journey.

In this weather, higher cotton content translates to higher breathability and comfort. Style can be worked in through a few factors—collars, colors and lengths. For collars, V-necks are dominating the scene but ringer tees (crew necks) are classic. For colors, it depends on how your working the rest of your outfit. Generally, brighter or fuller colors command more space, whereas faded colors tend to blend into normalcy. Lengths can be the trickiest—t-shirts falling right at the top of jeans is very popular. You could also look for one that comes about half-way down your bum to give you lesser chances of it riding up and exposing your stomach or back.

I personally stick to District threads, Next level or Anvil t-shirts because they’re cheap, they fit well and they are so soft. If I’m going to the gym, staying in or running errands—these brands provide a kind of comfort that can only be from quality construction.

That said, explore your options—there’s a lot of them. Feel free to experiment and order different brands and sizes to find that ‘one’ t-shirt that does it right. And good luck
