Winter Clothing and Properly Layer Clothing
Winter sports and activities can be a lot of fun. The essence of staying warm in the winter is having the proper clothing layers and knowing how to use them effectively. Here are some tips.
When we wear our clothes in layers, we ensure that there is enough dead air space, which can be shed off layer by layer, to balance the heat levels of your body. You also need to dress in layers so that you can be ready for temperature changes of the body.
Dress in layers
1st Layer: Wicking, light-weight, snug running shirt, long-sleeved if it's cold out, short-sleeved if it's cool
2nd Layer: Polypropylene (Coolmax or Thermax) long-sleeved shirt and/or a light-weight windbreaker jacket
3rd Layer: Long-sleeved shirt AND windbreaker jacket (Goretex is a good option)
Winter clothing keeps human body in normal temperature during cold weather. Our body loses heat through conduction, convection, evaporation, radiation and perspiration. These three layers protect you in cool temperatures.
